How Lessons Work
I only teach one-to-one lessons, as I believe this is the most effective way to learn. It’s just me here at the studio, so every student benefits from a focused, consistent and well-structured learning experience built around making meaningful progress in a relaxed environment.
Lessons are built around a learning system I have created and refined over more than 10 years of teaching. The material is available as a series of books directly from the studio for different levels.
I am very focussed on encouraging learners to practice effectively between lessons. You will always complete the lesson with a printed and emailed learning summary so that solid progress and momentum can always be achieved.
The Tonbridge Drum Studio learning system can be followed on its own, or alongside Trinity Rock & Pop grade books for students who wish to work towards exams.
Alongside lessons, Tonbridge Drum Studio is also a registered digital exam centre for Trinity Rock & Pop, so students who choose to take exams can do so in the same familiar environment they have been learning in.
Parents, guardians and carers are welcome to sit in and watch lessons, or relax with a coffee in the waiting area.

Who Lessons Are For
Absolute beginners, absolutely welcome!
There’s nothing I enjoy more than seeing a face light up when someone plays their very first drum beat. It’s a magical moment.
Self-taught players or those changing teachers
If you feel your progress has stalled or plateaued, come in for a session and we’ll get things moving again.
Experienced drummers looking to improve
We can identify areas for development, refine your technique, overhaul your practice routine and set clear goals for the next stage of your playing.
Adult beginners
If you’ve always wanted to learn drums but never quite got around to it, you’re not alone. Many students start from complete scratch as adults. Lessons are relaxed, encouraging and focused on helping you enjoy the process of learning.

I’ve been playing drums since 1997, gigging since 2001 and teaching full-time since opening Tonbridge Drum Studio in 2017.
Teaching is my passion, this isn’t just a job for me. I love helping students discover what they’re capable of and seeing their confidence grow as their playing develops.
Outside of teaching, I spend a lot of time recording drums remotely for artists and producers, which is always great fun. I also enjoy refurbishing and restoring old drums. If you visit the studio, you’ll usually see the back wall lined with various kits and ongoing restoration projects.
As a performer, I play live sessions for a variety of artists, but I’m particularly passionate about my solo project FROST, a hybrid drumming and electronic performance where I control drums, electronics, synchronised lighting and visuals live on stage.
